Fanny Ovesen made her first feature length film when she was 13 – an epic fantasy with her brother in the lead and herself in all supporting roles.
In 2017 she co-wrote and co-directed the short film SMIL which has been screened at several international festivals in Europe. Her graduation film from The Norwegian Film School, SHE-PACK, premiered internationally at the Berlinale in 2019 and has won numerous awards since then, among them the Amanda Award for Best Norwegian Short.
In 2018 Fanny won the Nordic Talents pitch prize for her upcoming feature LAURA, and was later awarded the Swedish Film Institute’s pilot support Wild Card. In 2019 she was awarded the Swedish Anna prize, for the project’s relevance to the UN Women’s Convention.
Fanny works with both longer narrative formats, short films and commercials, and is devoted to challenging stereotypes and letting all types of faces, bodies and personalities shine on the screen.
